Abstract

ChatGPT emerges as a groundbreaking educational tool, particularly for foreign language instructors. However, its integration has sparked concerns among educators and institutions, paradoxically stemming from its user-friendly nature and ability to produce accurate and grammatically correct responses. This article delves into these debates, exploring the possibilities and limitations of ChatGPT in teaching Spanish as a foreign or second language, with a specific focus on written expression and reading comprehension. The conclusion outlines essential digital competencies for an ethical and effective use of ChatGPT for both learning and practicing Spanish as a second language or foreign language.
